Mostly calm this morning along the BC coast from north to south. The default interior ridge remains much of the day, strong southerly ridgetop winds for the Island.

Another robust system swings towards the coast by this afternoon. Winds pick up southerly strong to extreme at mountain top for the South Coast and around Kasiks. Freezing levels for the south coast hover 2000-2400 metres in the morning, then steady at 2000m by afternoon.

5 to 15 mm water equivalent for the south coast except 15 to 20 mm over the Vancouver Island range in favourable upslope conditions on westward side.

Quiet day over the interior ranges. This morning sees the light snow ease to isolated flurries by midday from North Rockies to USA border. 2 to 4 cm accumulation possible.

Ridge builds in this morning leaving a mix of sun and cloud, then increasing clouds late afternoon. Mountain top winds over north rockies will be strong westerlies. Then moderate-strong southwesterlies along the interior ranges late afternoon.

Mainly cloudy with isolated flurries. Winds northeast 20 gusting to 40 km/h near the pass this afternoon.

Forecast for Tonight- 4 p.m to 4 a.m PST:

Heaviest precipitation will occur late afternoon, then ease to scattered showers after midnight. Expect snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 mm of water equivalent tonight. 

As the front pushes inland, there is the possibility of a small above freezing layer south of Kitimat between 500 to 1000 metres. Not expecting much ice accretion, but the threat exists into this evening.

Strong to extreme southerly winds along the entire coast, then easing near midnight. The strongest winds will exist between 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The coastal system will move into the interior by late evening, spreading snow to most of the interior, 2 to 8 mm of water equivalent by morning, with an AFL 1000 to 2000 metres along the north rockies tonight. 

Moderate to strong southwesterlies easing after midnight, except for the north rockies which will persist into the night. 

A weak frontal system pushes in overnight. Light snow expected bringing 2 to 4 cm of snow. Winds northeast 20 gusting to 40 km/h near the pass easing to light near morning.

Forecast for Saturday- 4 a.m to 4 p.m PST:

Quiet morning, increasing cloudiness as the next system makes way, reaching the island by late morning. This system will pack the smallest punch when compared to the previous and Sundays system.

As the system approaches, southerly winds increase to strong in the morning for the island and afternoon for the mainland coast.

Freezing levels across northwest sitting at, or near 500 metres. Over the south coast ranges freezing levels will drop from 2000-2400 metres down to 1400 metres.

No significant snowfall accumulations expected today. Generally 5 to 15 mm, or as high as 20 mm water equivalent in upslope locations.

Remnants of Saturdays coastal system will push into southern interior BC ranges from Cariboo to the USA border. 2 to 7mm of water equivalent. North Rockies will remain mostly dry.

Moderate to strong southerly winds will build from the Cariboo to Monashees late Saturday 

Strong southerly winds build over ranges from Cariboo to Purcells through Saturday afternoon then spread to the North Rockies and switch to southwesterlies by evening. 

A mix of sun and cloud. Winds becoming northeast 20 gusting to 40 km/h near the pass late morning.

Sundays system will spread once again more rain to the coast, but with slightly extra vigour then all previous systems experienced this week. 

Monday will be sandwiched between two systems, with Sunday system exiting the province in the morning, before a deep low pressure skirts by the B.C. coastline late Monday into Tuesday. This Christmas Eve storm will hover near Haida Gwaii and provide fairly strong winds to the entire coastline. Low confidence in its current trajectory.

Generally quiet Sunday with some lingering flurries along the rockies, followed by light snow late Sunday attributed to the coastal system. Marginal amounts.

Light snow should continue into Monday morning, then quiet until the deep low over the coast brings snow, and more importantly southeasterly winds to the interior ranges.

A significant frontal system pushes in from the Gulf of Alaska. Northeasterly winds initially will switch to strong southerly winds as the front pushes in. Expect upwards of 10 to 20 cm of snow each day Sunday and Monday.

System after system will crash into B.C., spilling precipitation onto the coast and light snow to the interior as a default ridge weakens the systems as they cross through the province.
